Joanne Purdy grew up on a farm north of Ajax Ontario where she learned at an early age to appreciate the beauty of the nature surrounding her. She has always been interested in all kinds of art but fell in love with oil painting by grade five, which lead her on an artistic journey to learn all that she could in the world of art.
Joanne attended the Chelsea school of art in London UK and has trained under many renowned artist in the U.S....Tom Browning, Richard Shmitd, Harley Brown, Robert Johnson and believes that you can never stop learning.
Joanne has been teaching and instructing students with different techniques from planning a painting to completion for over 30 years and feels that to teach and help someone else to realize their dreams is a wonderful and fulfilling experience. Her studio is in Colborne but travels all over Ontario to do one day workshops.
Joanne loves to paint on a large scale and has completed 4 dioramas as large as 75' long at the Mario Cortellucci Heritage Museum and has work currently the ROM. She has also had her own TV series “The World of Painting” on local cogeco stations where she completes her painting from start to finish in 30 minutes. Joanne continues to work with various publishing companies and has illustrated 8 children books and countless book covers.
